an irreverent evocation / a vaguely defined group of people who share an interest in Aphrodite-related visuals, rituals, and their politics.
Aphrodite Mana Mou (June-August, 2019)
was a series of events, academic presentations, art exchanges, and interviews performed by Chrystalleni Loizidou, in Brasil between June and August 2019, with the anticipated support of the Cultural Services of the Republic of Cyprus. These exchanges focused on the international zeitgeist of contemporary female art collectives, and were in construction of the Ixodos Independent Translocal Artist Exchanges network. 'Aphrodite mana mou' was a concentrated exchange with Carolina Cortes, Livia Moura, Luiz Guilherme Vergara of Universidade Federal Fluminense, and Jessica Gogan of Instituto MESA and VAV (Brasil), that mostly took place at A Casa Lar, in the Tijuca Forest of Rio de Janeiro, between June-August, 2019. Its summary results were presented at Largo das Artes on July 20th, 2019.

A few words about this collaboration
Through this collaboration we wish to reinforce and spread further the international relationships between artist collectives interested in ideas of mutuality, inclusivity, participation, community, and care. Chrystalleni Loizidou brings in her curatorial work as part of the sister-collective Re Aphrodite, her autoethnographic work on single motherhood, and her research on public and participatory art in connection to her practice in community building, along with a connection with the free software movement.
We wish to use this opportunity to develop and grow the “Ixodos” independent artist network between Brasil, Cyprus, and Greece, in collaboration with art centres and universities in these countries and beyond.

Vidigal Community Workshops (2)
July 1 and August 12, 2019.
Vidigal (favela) is an area under rapid gentrification, with numerous efforts being made by the arts, backed by various types of capital, for the support and improvement of the community.
Chrystalleni Loizidou was invited to collaborate towards the design of Educational workshops. She proposed and developed a workshop on the themes of de-commodification of dental hygiene, self-care through play, and natural ingredients and paints. The first workshop was a preparatory visit led by arts educator Carolina Cortes, and the second was developed in collaboration with Fernanda Lenzi (art educator, Terra UNA).

1-6 August Terra UNA, Minas Gerais

Launching Ixodos Independent-Translocal Art Exchanges
An initiative by VAV (Brazil) + Re Aphrodite (Cyprus).
With this we celebrate the third of a series of beautiful encounters, and we invite our friends and their friends to come, create a beautiful present,
see contemporary artwork collected in Cyprus by Re Aphrodite,
make Mousakka (a strong greek food with layers of de-self-colonisation),
sing, eat, and talk about what we share.
We will connect in person or remotely, and share contacts with each other, and
people working between Cyprus and Brasil and discover interesting projects,
with Iouli, the healer-keeper of Hippocrates' Garden in the island of Cos, Greece, and
The Free Software movement in Rio de Janeiro.
We are at the same time working towards conversations with Museums and Archives about Open-Public Data Management Policy, and to connect and discuss international arts funding programmes and their dis/advantages. This is part of a building the wider Ixodos residency network, by Chrystalleni Loizidou and Janus, based at Casa Lar, and will host a series of events and workshops in July and August 2019.
